"The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the video arena, the Videodrome"
-- Brian Oblivion, Videodrome (1983)

VIDEODROME is a one-night audio/visual overdose. An evening of live audio/video performances and playback by 20 local and international producers of A/V media works with a strong audio-visual link, visual music. Simultaneously video and music made from video edits, where picture matches sound, cut for cut, beat for beat, for a serendipitous sensory unity, a synesthesia with an emphasis on intensity, a semi-gemastaltkunst for the youtube generation.

The Video Battle is a competition of audio/visual media work, the A/V battle, the VIDEODROME. Developed from the idea of the hip hop DJ battle, artists will throw down fast and hard attempting to out flash each other with selections, cuts and mixes extreme, humorous and dangerous. Underlining the importance of competition as a driving force in the building of a relevant and volatile cultural community, artists compete for prizes and for glory and for the exaltation of the crowd. Winners are determined by a panel of experts and by the cheers and jeers of the audience/dance floor.

VIDEODROME is a collision of video art, mash-up, VJ culture, and experimental electronic music and contemporary club culture, bridging the gaps between the sofa, the club and the art gallery. An audio/visual assault striving for sensory overload in the interest of breaking down boundaries between audience and artist, sight and sound, observation and hallucination, perception and creation.

all grain brewing

Some of you might have been wondering why has Duncan not placed an amen over another song in a half-assed attempt at a remix in a while. The reason being is I have been setting up my all grain brewing system. Last weekend it was the first run of the system. Pretty exciting for me. Enough so that I am blogging about it. I have been brewing for a long time, but this was the first time I did an all grain batch. Which is a huge step up from using extracts, or making country wines/cider. Here are a few photos of the day.

This is my cheap mash tun I constructed using plans from the internets. It works great. I was worried the wort would pool at the bottom unable to reach the supply line. But it worked like a charm. Thank you to them internets.

Here is a pic of the mash-in. You can see how messy I am with all the spilt grain on the floor. I cried a little when it spilt. All that potential alcohol to all my potential homies.

What an awesome colour. In case I forgot to mention, the style of beer I was brewing was Texas Tea. Har har. In actual fact I was brewing an American Imperial Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. Wooh. A mouthful indeed. American in that I used American hops (Cascade), Imperial as the OG was 1.070, Chocolate and Oatmeal as I used chocolate malt and Oats, and stout cuz it's dark. It has yet to receive a name. If you have any suggestions, email me. I love to hear them.

The very expensive pot on the stove with the wort not quite yet at a boil. Again another glimpse into my messy life. How so very titillating!

If you were curious to what is in the other carboy. It was another brew I did a few days previously. A hopped cider, which I am calling 'hopped & screwed.' hehe. I am so clever.

I promise to post an update on how well the beer turned out with many photos of the debauchery in which ensues.

NTK009 Skeeter vs Retrigger - PARANOIA/CYNICISM

Rather than spending your welfare money on meth this month, buy my new split record with Retrigger on Noizetek Records. You get to listen to great breakcore music, and if in need; you can inhale the burning plastic of the vinyl, which may get you high.

I now have copies of this on hand. I won't bother with putting a paypal link, as I know no one will email; as no one reads this blog. Email if you are interested in purchasing a copy. We can work out a price like gentlemen.
